Transfers work for defined origin-to-destination trips
Airport, cruise and hotel transportation often fits a direct transfer when the vehicle does not need to remain nearby afterwards.
Ask how waiting and additional stops are handled because they can change a simple transfer.
Hourly service fits flexible or multi-stop itineraries
Weddings, roadshows, photo sessions and several business meetings may require the same vehicle to remain available. Hourly booking can make those changes easier to manage.
Minimum service periods can affect the total, so compare the full booking rather than only the hourly rate.
Split service may be another option
Some events need transportation in the afternoon and again late at night with a long gap in between. Providers may quote continuous hourly service, two transfers or a split arrangement.
Describe the actual schedule rather than choosing the pricing model before requesting quotes.
The same trip can sometimes be quoted both ways. Comparing the totals can reveal whether keeping the vehicle available has enough value to justify the additional time. For weddings and corporate schedules, flexibility may be worth more than the lowest possible transfer cost; for straightforward airport trips, it often is not.
Some providers also charge travel time to reach a distant pickup before the booked service begins. This can matter for regional events or specialty vehicles based outside the city. Ask whether the quoted hourly period starts at the passenger pickup or includes garage travel. That detail can materially change the comparison between hourly service and separate transfers.
When the event timing is uncertain, the value of having a vehicle remain available may outweigh a small price difference. For a fixed airport route, that flexibility is usually less important.
Another comparison is driver continuity. Hourly service normally keeps the vehicle and chauffeur dedicated to the booking, while separate transfers may use different vehicles or drivers at different times. If continuity matters for executives, weddings or VIP guests, include that preference in the quote request rather than assuming it comes with every booking model.
